New Renault Duster 2018 India launch, expected price, changes & features

The next-gen Renault Duster 2018 has been globally unveiled.  Internationally, the Duster is sold under Renault’s budget arm – Dacia. The updated crossover is expected to make its India entry by the end of next year – 2018. The new Duster features comprehensively updated exteriors, better quality interiors and updated powertrains.

The new-gen Duster is based on the same M0 platform, which underpins the current model. This is also the same platform that will be seen underneath the upcoming Renault Captur crossover, which is expected to be launched sometime next year.

The crossover market in India has been expanding with every passing month. While the Renault Duster surely had the first-mover advantage in the budget crossover segment, the last couple of years have seen a major spike in the number of crossovers available in the market. As a result, sales of the Duster have slipped down. With the new-gen model, Renault India will be hoping to regain the lost market share by offering a more contemporary and well-packaged car.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Renault Duster 2018:

Renault Duster 2018 expected India launch

Renault is expected to showcase the new-gen Duster 2018 in India at the next year’s Auto Expo in February. However, an official launch will likely be made sometime later in 2018. We expect the new Duster’s India launch to be scheduled around mid next year.

Renault Duster 2018 expected price

The Indian crossover market is a fairly price-sensitive space. Hence, Renault would like to avoid any major price hikes with the introduction of the new Duster 2018. This will help in building the brand’s VFM image and thus pull in more customers to the showroom.

As a result, we expect the new 2018 Renault Duster to be priced in the range of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Base petrol Rs 10 lakh
Top-end Diesel Rs 15 lakh

Renault Duster 2018 exteriors and design

The new-gen Renault Duster is based on the same M0 platform that forms the base of the current model. In terms of design, Renault has tried to spruce things up a bit by comprehensively updated the new Duster’s front fascia. The front grille is now wider and bolder, thanks to added chrome accents. Headlamps have been pushed to the sides and feature LED daytime running lamps. The front bumper is also an all-new unit, with a larger faux skid plate area.

The side profile features a more prominent belt line, larger roof rails, and new alloy wheels. The front windshield has been given a larger rake angle, by pushing the A-pillar forward by 10 mm. Though the silhouette appears to be similar to that of the current Duster, Renault designers have done a satisfactory job of adding modern elements to the profile.
