Tata Tigor AMT Automatic priced from Rs. 5.75 lakh

The Tata Tigor AMT Automatic has silently been launched in India. Available in two variants, XTA and XZA, the Tigor automatic has been priced at Rs. 5.75 lakh and Rs. 6.22 lakh, respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). This translates to a premium of around Rs. 40,000, as compared to the respective manual variants.

The Tigor is essentially a compact sedan sibling of the Tiago hatchback. While the Tiago automatic was launched in India earlier this year, Tata took some time to bring the same gearbox into the Tigor. Hence, the Tigor automatic also gets the same 5-speed AMT unit sourced from Magnetti Marelli that is found under the Nano AMT and the Tiago AMT. It is worth noting here that the recently launched Tata Nexon will also soon get an AMT automatic gearbox, though that is expected to be a new 6-speed unit.

The automatic gearbox can only be opted in the two higher trims of the Tigor sedan. In addition to the new AMT unit, no other feature related changes have been made. Hence, the Tigor AMT XTA offers the same features as the manual XT, while the XZA is similar to the XZ trim. As would be clear by now, the added ‘A’ in the trim level is essentially denoting the presence of the automatic gearbox.

As mentioned before, the Tata Tigor automatic has been launched only in the XTA and XZA variants. The Tigor automatic XTA trim is priced at Rs. 5.75 lakh, while the Tigor automatic XZA variant costs Rs. 6.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Comparing these prices to the manual variants, it is clear that the automatic variants are costlier by around Rs 40,000, as compared to their respective manual counterparts.
