Royal Enfield KX Concept Unveiled, Details Inside

Royal Enfield has unveiled a concept motorcycle at the 2018 EICMA show in Milan. Called the Royal Enfield KX Concept, this new motorcycle pays homage to the RE KX, which was first introduced in 1938. It is worth noting that the manufacturer hasn’t mentioned anything about a production-spec version based on the KX Concept yet.

Royal Enfield hasn’t yet revealed any specifications of the KX Concept’s powertrain. However, the engine block has ‘838’ etched on it. This indicates that the new KX Concept might draw power from an 838 cc, twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine, mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Interestingly, the erstwhile Royal Enfield KX was powered by a much larger 1,140 cc twin cylinder engine.

The KX Concept follows the design language of the vintage KX motorcycle. It gets a low seat height, stretched back handlebars, and large wheels. The concept even borrows its dark bottle-green paint shade from the motorcycle that it pays homage to. However, Royal Enfield has also added a few modern features to the motorcycle, including LED lights, all digital instrument cluster, alloy wheels, and twin disc brakes.

In the long run, Royal Enfield is highly likely to launch a production version of the KX concept as its flagship offering. The company has already revealed its intentions of producing higher capacity motorcycles in order to to compete against the likes of Harley Davidson and Triumph. An 800 cc bobber would thus be the perfect fit for such an endeavor.
