The Tata Altroz Electric is the next big launch in the company’s electric car lineup. The company had showcased a production-ready concept of the Altroz Electric at the 2020 Auto Expo. However, the carmaker is yet to reveal an official launch date of the Altroz EV in India. Once launched, the Altroz will become the first all electric car in the premium hatchback segment.

Tata Altroz Electric India Launch
Tata had earlier planned to launch the Altroz Electric in India by the end of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has sent plans of many carmakers for a toss, and Tata Motors is no different. As a result, the Altroz EV is now expected to be launched in the first half of next year, i.e., between January to June 2021.
Tata Altroz Electric Price in India
Prices of the Altroz Electric will only be revealed after its official launch. However, knowing how Tata has priced the Nexon EV in India, we believe that the Altroz Electric too will be aggressively priced. We expect to see two variants of the Altroz Electric in India, priced in the range of Rs. 10.99 lakh to Rs. 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Altroz Electric Specifications
The Altroz EV is powered by the company’s Ziptron electric powertrain. This consists of a permanent magnet AC electric motor, driving power from a lithium ion battery pack. Tata hasn’t revealed performance specifications of the Altroz EV yet. However, we expect to see a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 10 seconds.
Tata Altroz Electric Drive Range and Charge Time
Tata has claimed that the Altroz EV will come with a ‘target range’ of 250 – 300 km. This means that in the real world, the Altroz Electric will be capable of covering close to 200 km on a single charge.
As far as charge time are concerned, we expect the Tata Altroz EV to come with DC fast charging. This will allow owners to get 80 percent charge in just 60 minutes. However, charging the electric hatchback with a regular home socket is expected to take around 10 hours.
Tata Altroz EV Design Updates
The Altroz Electric comes with a few design tweaks over the regular model. These include a new funky looking set of alloy wheels, a closed front grille, and tri-arrow design on the front air dam. There is an EV badge on the front grille, while the Altroz name plate has now moved to the black area of the bootlid. Tata has also added a lot of blue inserts on the inside as well as outside to indicate that the car is an EV.
